The forward end of the motor separated immediately upon ignition. The DMS casing showed no other damage, it appears to be a bonding failure of the forward closure (possibly due to thermal stress as the outside air temperature at the time of the launch was about 15F). The rocket motor was forced down out of the motor mount tube, shearing the cardboard joint that was gluing the aeropack retainer on. The propellant grains were ejected out the forward end of the motor and immediately extinguished. Minimal damage to rocket. Only damage was the aeropack retainer being forced off the end of the motor tube.
