Comments
Motor ignited and rocket lifted-off pad ~6"-8" prior to CATO. All motor contents (burning propellant, ejection charge, nozzle) ejected out forward and aft ends of motor. Motor casing appears to be intact with no splits or burn-thru locations. Damage to Estes Hi-Flier XL rocket included blown-out engine block/forward motor mount, bent motor retaining hook, punctured chute, and charred/separated shock cord. Rocket currently not flyable, but may be repairable. Planning to call Estes later today after filing this MESS report.
