Motor vented out the top side of metal case and 3D fin can, which spun and separated the rocket sections at about 50 feet. I question if my junior high students tightened the closure ring completely. Could a gap between the propellent and ejection charge have allowed combustion gasses to burn through the plastic expendable casing and the hardened metal casing? Casing may have been very old and possibly flown many dozens of flights (TARC).
