Shortly after ignition, two stage rocket exploded between 25-50 ft. up. The explosion immediately ignited the sustainer, which simultaneously exploded. We observed two balls of flaming propellant accelerating upward and arching over observers. The mmt inside sustainer was gutted while the custom booster airframe above motor mount - ruptured.

It all happened very quickly. It ignited, it rose up, both stages exploded and two balls of orange/pinkish flame rose up, one's trajectory was slightly above horizontal while another was near vertical. It was feared either or both would fall to earth and ignite the tall grassy field, but they extinguished before impact, if there was impact.
