The RMS-EZ was drilled with an Aerotech Delay Drilling Tool, set to -8, which should have resulted in a 6 second delay. the ejection charge ignited at motor burnout, causing the recovery system to fail, and the upper & lower rocket sections to come down with no chute, suffering significant damage. Correct motor assembly was verified upon disassembly, all O-Rings and seals were in place with no damage. During assembly, it was noted that the epoxy seal of the delay element had some bubbles, though there's no other evidence to suggest this was a cause of early delay burn through. Model was a Sirius Saturn V, 6", 9lbs.
